花火ようなヒガンバナ　Lycoris radiata

朝夕の暑さも和らぎ、季節が少しずつ秋に移ろいできています。

小松川境川親水公園と一之江境川親水公園の彼岸花が咲き始めました。

彼岸花は、秋のお彼岸を迎える頃に咲く花です。今年は夏の暑さもあり開花が遅くなっているようです。細長い茎を伸ばし、その先端に打ち上げ花火の様な形と鮮やかな燃えるような赤でひと際目立ちます。

The is moving on to autumn day by day and the sunshine is becoming comfortably little by little, isn’t them?

The lycoris at the Komatsugawa-Shinsui koen and Ichinoesakaigawa-Shinsui koen have just started blooming. Lycoris is famous as autumn flower in Japan. The timing of blooming is a little later than before due to the hot and humid summer of this year.

It would make us imagine of small red fireworks so we would find lycoris easily.

花びらは６枚あり、反るように開花します。おしべとめしべが長く伸びています。

It has 6 curved petals and long stamens, pistils.

発芽からハイスピードで咲く花。

1日目に10～20㎝も茎を伸ばし、5日目につぼみが色づき、7日目に花が咲く。植物界ではハイスピード？！

Lycoris flowers bloom so quickly actually. Since the first day, it becomes taller 10~20cm per a day. Then after 5days later, it blooms…..Very Quickly!!

花が咲いている時には葉っぱが出ておらず、花が咲き終わって枯れた頃に細長い葉が出ます。

While blooming, it has no leaves as you see. The leaves come out after the blooming finished. This is also the feature of lycoris

見事に開花！彼岸花が咲いたら秋を感じますね！

【彼岸花の様々な名前】

そんな彼岸花を調べると…沢山の別名や方言名をもっています。

それは1000個以上だとか！その一部をご紹介します。

✿曼珠沙華（マンジュシャゲ）－サンスクリット語で「天上に咲く赤い花」の意味。

✿リコリス－ギリシャ神話の海の女神の名前に由来。

✿痺れ花（シビレバナ）－球根にある毒性の成分からきたと言われています。

✿想思華（ソウシバナ）－韓国では、「葉は花を思い、花は葉を思う」という両想いのシンボルです。

✿さらにあれこれ調べてみたら...

「彼岸」の意味は「あの世」を意味する言葉なので仏教的にも関わりがあるといわれています。お墓参りの時によく見かけますよね。むかし、まだ土葬の時代、墓地などの周りに毒のある彼岸花を植えて、モグラやネズミなどから墓を守ったんだとか？一方、全体的には毒性があるとはいえ、球根は生薬として使用されるなど、人々の生活に役に立っている花です。

様々な場所で色々な名前がつけられて人々の身近にあった花だということがわかりますね！

In the past time, people planted lycoris around grave to protect family tombs from animals or people used the bads to make some medicines…… the lycoris have been very close to people life.

ひまわりde元気と笑顔プロジェクトが終了　Sunflower

9月18日、ひまわりde元気と笑顔プロジェクト期間がおかげさまで大盛況のうちに終了しました。

このプロジェクトは”水とみどりと花のまち江戸川区”に来てくださる皆さんを、ひまわりをシンボルとして”元気と笑顔”でお迎えしよう！そして私たちも元気に盛り上がろう！というコンセプト。

この夏も「ひまわりde元気と笑顔」が街中に広がりました。

今年は、ひまわり（サンフィニティ）を江戸川区の駅・スポーツ施設・文化施設にも展示して、皆さんにお楽しみいただきました。（駅2ヵ所、スポーツ施設4ヵ所、文化施設17ヵ所、その他2ヵ所の合計25ヵ所）

また、区内のほとんどの保育園でも、プロジェクトのひまわりが咲いて子供たちも暑い夏を元気に過ごしました。

そして、花とみどりの応援団（ボランティア）の皆さんもプロジェクトのひまわりで、ご近所に「元気と笑顔」を広げました。

数えきれないほど多くの皆さんが「ひまわりde元気と笑顔プロジェクト」に参加して、江戸川区に来てくださる方々だけでなく、みんなに「元気と笑顔」を広げてくださいました。大成功！(^o^)

来年はぜひ皆さんもご参加ください。

「元気と笑顔」エネルギーを放ったひまわりの風景を、ほんの一部ですが、ご紹介します。

The "Sunflower project for vigor & smiles" has thankfully finished on 18th of September. There were so many people thankfully joind this projekt so that not only visitors of Edogawa city but also all neighbors would be able to find vigor & smiles.

Here are some memories and reports below.

【平井駅　北口広場】Hirai station

小松川信用金庫の皆さんが心を込めてお手入れしていたのは、多くの人が行き交う平井駅前。

「きれいね～」との声も聞かれ、スマホで撮影する姿もみられました。ひまわり効果でますます元気になった方もいらしたことでしょう。

The staff of Komatsugawa-Shinkin bank had been kindly taking care of the Sunflowers in front of the Hirai station.

There were people who say "Wow beautiful" or took some pictures of the sunflowers. They could be able to get much vigor, couldn't they?

毎日の水やりとこまめな花柄カットで元気に咲いて、行きかう人々に笑顔を届けていました。（9月8日撮影S.C）

They were working well and providing smiles for people.

【東部区民館】Tobu-Kuminkan hall　

９月に入ってもきれいな花が咲き続けていました。少しだけ秋の風を感じたこの日、地域の会合のため来館した皆さんにもひまわりを見て笑顔が・・・・

It was turned into September and felt the autumn wind a bit. The customers were making smiles with seeing the flowers.

【水辺のスポーツガーデン】Waterside Sports Garden

蒸し暑い日でしたが、吹く風が秋風へと微妙に変わっていました（？）。

水辺のスポーツガーデンでは、少年野球、テニス、フットサルなどなどに、大人も、子どもも皆さんいい汗をかいていました。

ひまわりも暑い夏を彩って、一緒にがんばっていました。

It was so humid day but is the wind turning into autumn??

People were having fun some sports tennis, baseball and so forth. The sunflowers looked like cheering up them.

【北葛西コミュニティ会館】Kitakasai community hall

燦燦と降り注ぐ太陽光を好み、コミュニティ会館のひまわりも次から次へと花を咲かせました。

Sunflowers love sunlight and bloomed in abundance.

管理・運営している（株）リンレイの皆さんが心を込めてお世話していて、ひまわりはすくすくと成長しました。（8月27日撮影F.K）

みどりの郷保育園 Midorino-Sato nursery school

「今年もきれいにひまわりが咲きました！」と嬉しい報告をいただきました。

Thankfully they reported us the big Sunflowers for the project.

保育園の門の横でプロジェクトの種から大きなひまわりが育ちました。こちらを向いて生き生きと咲いていました。素敵ですね！

These flowers grew up at the gate of the nursery school from the seeds for the project. It's so awesome, isn't it?

おかげさまで今年のひまわりde元気と笑顔プロジェクト期間は終了しました。

秋はお花が多い季節です。是非お近くの公園や街角に咲くお花やみどりを楽しみましょう♪

そして来年の「ひまわりde元気と笑顔プロジェクト」もお楽しみに～（^^）/

足元に露草（ツユクサ）をみつけました　Tsuyukusa

こんなにも青色が澄んでいて、可愛らしい形の花が身近にあるんだ！と一之江境川親水公園で発見がありました。

それは、よく道路や湿地などで見かける露草（ツユクサ）！

そんなツユクサは繁殖力が旺盛で、開花の時期は６月～１０月までと長いです。一方、開花の時間は早朝～昼までと短いです。古くはその青色の花色を使って布を染めたり、浮世絵版画にも使用されていたようです。現在でも手描き友禅の下描きの顔料にも使用されています。重宝されている植物ですね。　　　　　

Wow! I have found so blue & cute flower at Ichinoe-Sakaigawa shinsui park.　It was Blue dayflowers (Tsuyukusa)!

The Tsuyukusa season is long from June to October. On the other hand, the blooming time long is so short just from morning to noon.

The blue color has been used for staining.

It's interesting, isn't it?

緑の中によく見ると小さな青色のツユクサがぽつぽつと咲いています。松江第五中学校付近で撮影しました。

Look at in the bush and you would find the Blue Tsuyukusa.

Here is near the Matsue No.5 junior high school.

ツユクサが生い茂っているところを近寄って撮ってみます。

「ツユクサ」を漢字で書くと「露草」。朝露がよく似合うお花！あるいは「蛍草」、「月草」、「青花」など。親しみのある名前で呼ばれることもあります。

The name of Tsuyukusa has a meaning of morning dew. The blue flowers have other familiar names of Hotarusou, Tsukikusa, haohana, etc.

アップで撮ると、青い左右対称の形の花が面白く、２枚の大きい花びらが目立っています。おしべは６本ありますが、そのうちの長い２本のおしべが伸びています。残りの４本の目立つ黄色は、虫を誘う役割をしています。

There are two blue petals and six stamens. The two of stamens are longer than others. And the yellow color of the four stamens works for gathering bugs.

午後3時ごろ行くとこの様にしおれています。

ツユクサの近くにうす茶色のトンボが居心地よさそうに止まっていました。

よく似た花のフヨウとムクゲ

９月に入ってもまだまだ厳しい残暑は続きますが、夏～秋にかけて公園や庭を彩る美しい花木に芙蓉（フヨウ）と木槿（ムクゲ）があります。

このふたつの花はとても似ています。そこで・・・、

その違いを調べてみました。

It’s still hot in early September but already we can find the autumn flowers of cotton rosemallws (Fuyou) & Rose of sharons (Mukuge) here and there.

These two kinds of flowers look very similar so let’s confirm what difference between them.

夏のおわり頃が盛期のにフヨウ。

蝶の羽のように透けて風に揺れる花びらが、風情を感じられます。花の色は白や淡いピンク色です。フヨウの花はその日の朝から夕方までしか咲かない一日だけの花です。寒さにはやや弱いものの秋ごろまで次から次へと花が咲き、長く楽しめるのが魅力です。

The best season of Fuyou is late summer. We can feel the season by the white or pink flowers waving softly like a butterfly. The flower basically blooms only for one day so people say that one-day flowers. It’s not so tough for cold weather but the flowers continue to bloom new next to next until October.

ムクゲが咲き始めるのは梅雨の時期あたり。

まだ花の少ない時期に咲き始めるので人気があり、全国各地に植えられています。花の色は白やピンク、紫などと豊富です。

ムクゲの花も一つひとつは一日だけの花です。

次々に新しい開花がを楽しめる期間は夏の間ずっとです。ムクゲは寒さにとても強く、北海道でも育ちます。

Mukuge usually start blooming in late rainy season. It starts blooming earlier than other kind of flowers so it’s popular and we can see them every region in Japan. It has variety of colors of white, pink, purple, etc.

It also makes new flowers next to next so the blooming time is so long. Mukuge is tough for cold weather so it can be in Hokkaido.
